Smooth zooming for canon

Because I have a problem with smooth zooming during filming, I wanted to find something that will allow me to smoothly control the ring on the lens. Of course, the best solutions costs a lot of money. Maybe in the future I would buy such a solution. Anyway, I searched further and came across to an Focus Level. It was a cheaper alternative, and at a promotional video on vimeo, it looked quite promising. So I ordered it. I tested it with great expectations. Honestly, I expected a little more. With the tripod is the lever release better. But maybe you just have to get used to it. We shall see.

My YEAR 2012

Clearly, this is my best year.In cycling, filming, and in school.  I have behind me incredible projects that were successful and I was proud of them. I considered why not to do a Review about this year. I wanted this video make popular, so i made my review only from GoPro cameras and send the video to the GoPro web site. I wanted to try if it gonna be a VOD (video of the day). The Canon or Sony footage is not included. I managed to cut this video in one night, after I chose an appropriate song. It was made not on any chronological compilation. Purely random and dynamic cutting topped my most successful project, IKAROS. Among other things, I obviously put there images from Iceland, skating, biking, skiing, time lapse and various other stuff. The only bug I've found throughout was that I have filmed sometimes as 25fps and sometimes as 29.9 fps. I dont really know why this happened :( In the future, I have to be careful because the 25fps video will after rendering to 29.9 fps look badly.

PRAGUE PARTY

One of my bad feature is that I can not get done my projects in a normal time frame. Thus, a lot of movies waiting for me in almost infinite series. I nedd to edit ​​Greece trip, hike Hochschwab, Fatra tour, bachelor party, skating etc. It is not enough time and I still find other important thing such as my expedition movie for the last thesis. Sometimes, i find the time and edit a few films. As well as now. I made the video after more than a month about Kovo´s and Jelenko´s birthday party in Prague. They got it as a gift under the tree :) I tried the dynamic cut which as always should linked to music. Anyway, I ran out of time and I could not pley more with the details.

HYDROGEN

Just before midnight, I received a phone call, if I am not interested to shoot some crazy experiment. And so was made one of the unexpected videos that I cuted within a few hours. Even the song was fast to find, I took a song from my collection of "essential dubstep." During the following day, I published this video where the guys were playing with electrolysis, bottles and fire. The result was explosive and noisy. I hope such experiments do not bother anyone. "But there was a supervision of professionals, who ensure that nothing bad happens." So please ... do not try this at home;) Location filming was near the Danube river. Best location for a perfect echo, which often came from all sides.

 IKAROS

After more than five months, I have finally released the full montage of our project IKAROS. The reason for the late publication was the music. The final cut has been done in June.

On this video, I wanted to have a "legal" song that I can safely use. I found the perfect song. So I wrote the author an email, if he would not give me (some of the) rights to use the song. After five unanswered emails, I started looking for alternatives. I don't wanted to use tracks such as "creative commons" because it is hard to find good songs. I went to Iceland and so I could not find a new song. After I got home, in late September, I managed to find a composer from England, that would compose a song for Ikaros. Oliver Sadie, I like his work, so I am very happy that he will compose the track. But over time, the release date moved because it was necessary to create a song. I did not want to push Oliver, it was his good will to compose the track. He had also a wedding. But finally at November 20 it was done. I'm awfully glad I Oliver created this fantastic song.

Since I have now a legal music, I considering to log the video onto few festivals. Once again, a big thanks to the team with I have been able to implement such a crazy project and also thank Oliver, who took the time to improve our video.
